Please read on to learn more about his this superb work -- and how, for the first time ever, an exact half-size version of The Broncho Buster could be created. But first, here's some fascinating history on the genius of Frederic Remington...

AMERICA'S MOST RENOWNED WESTERN ARTIST

Frederic Remington was born in upper New York State as the Civil War erupted in 1861. Seth Remington, Frederic's father, was a highly decorated major in the U.S. Cavalry during the Civil War. His dream was to see his son obtain a fine education, and his vision started to become a reality when young Remington entered Yale University as an art student. However, he was not cut out for college life.

Remington was a good horseman and very adventurous. When he turned 19, he left Yale behind and took his first trip to the untamed Montana territory. This was the beginning of Remington's glorification of the West. He wrote and illustrated stories for such popular national magazines as Collier's and Harper's. He thrilled both young and old with his vivid tales of those tumultuous times.

Remington was an actual eyewitness to the passing of the Old West. One of the most revered chroniclers of that era, Remington painted, drew and modeled the cowboy, the Native American, and the Cavalry Soldier with an unrivaled authenticity and insight.

He worked with a passion seldom equaled by others, struggling to record the historic images that were fleeting before his very eyes. No one did it more accurately or poignantly. He preserved forever the glory and the tragedy of the men who tried to tame the West... and the men who fought to keep it wild.

THE IMMORTAL BRONCHO BUSTER

By 1895, Frederic Remington was an established illustrator, painter, and author. But it wasn't until he began working in clay that he created some of his most famous and enduring art. Remington had exhibited incredible skill at capturing movement on canvas. This mastery of depicting action was even more apparent when he worked on a three-dimensional sculpture.

In 1895 Remington completed his first sculpture, The Broncho Buster. Art critics praised the work for its simplicity, clarity, and contrast. In Century Magazine, William A. Coffin commented:

"[T]he movement and force of both horse and rider are given with a strength and grasp to impress by their truth at first glance. The group is so good, and its aspect so attractive, that it deserves praise not only for its technical qualities, but also for its power to please those who care as much for the subject as for treatment."

The Broncho Buster was wildly popular with buyers as well, and it was sold primarily at Tiffany & Co. The initial response and enduring acclaim for The Broncho Buster further assured Remington a place among the great artists of history.

PATRIOTIC HISTORY

The Broncho Buster has been treasured by American leaders for generations. It is difficult to find the work of any American sculptor that is so highly sought after.

  • Teddy Roosevelt was one of Remington's greatest fans. When the Rough Riders disbanded they presented Roosevelt with a bronze of The Broncho Buster. It became one of his most prized possessions.
  • Ronald Reagan also loved Remington's works. A Broncho Buster was on display in the Oval Office during his entire presidency.
  • During a White House ceremony, President George H. Bush was presented with Museum Proof #1 of the silver edition of The Broncho Buster. It is now in College Station, Texas.
  • When George W. Bush had the Oval Office redecorated, one of the few pieces of art he chose to keep was an original casting of Remington's The Broncho Buster.
  • MODERN TECHNOLOGY MEETS CLASSIC CASTING

For years, we've had customers ask why we don't offer silver Remington sculptures in smaller, more affordable sizes. The reason was simple: the sculptures in the Silver Remington series are cast from a mold taken from Remington's original sculptures. You couldn't "shrink" the mold and you certainly couldn't tamper with Remington's original sculpture.

But now there is a way to faithfully replicate Remington's original. Technology has had a great impact on the art world, and enabled us to create a half-size version of The Broncho Buster -- with every detail meticulously included just as it appears on Remington's original sculpture.

Laser-scanning can now be used to digitally scan and record every detail of a three-dimensional image. To digitize The Broncho Buster, we hired one of the world's foremost digitizers - the same company that the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City hired to scan two of their precious 17th century marble statues. Using a series of laser scanners to record each detail from every angle of the sculpture, a three-dimensional electronic copy of the Broncho Buster was created.

Using this digitized "picture," a half-size model of The Broncho Buster was built using stereolithography prototyping. In this process, a laser beam uses the digital information to build the model layer by layer out of liquid resin.

After the 21st Century processes of computer digitizing and the stereolithography were complete, the model was sent to the foundry where the rest of the casting process is remarkably similar to how things were done when Remington was alive! While Remington submitted a clay model, the half-size model was made of the hardened resin for mold making. Skilled artisans then begin the laborious process of casting using the lost-wax method... the same process used by Roman Bronze Works to cast Remington's original sculptures.

The decision was made at the inception of the Remington sculpture series to use only .999 fine silver (the purest silver possible). Most silver collectibles are completed in European silver, which starts at 80% pure, or sterling silver which is only 92.5% pure. But each and every silver sculpture in this exclusive edition will be accompanied by an assay report attesting to the fact that only .999 fine, pure silver was used.

The Broncho Buster, Home Library Edition is authorized by the Frederic Remington Art Museum in Ogdensburg, New York. This edition will be strictly limited to only 500 silver castings plus five museum proofs. The Museum rarely finds a project that meets its strict endorsement criteria, and 500 is a small edition, so you will want to act quickly before the edition sells out and this opportunity vanishes.

The official issue price of this historic work is $10,000. However, through our long association with the Frederic Remington Art Museum, we have made an exclusive, limited-time arrangement to offer the sculptures to you for only $7,950...saving you $2,000! Therefore, we urge you to review this material carefully and respond without delay.

A portion of your payment will go to the Frederic Remington Art Museum. The mission of the Frederic Remington Art Museum is to collect, exhibit, preserve, and interpret the art and archives of Frederic Remington. The Museum fosters an appreciation for and understanding of the artist by educating its audience in the visual arts and by providing a context for Remington's life in Northern New York.
